12 Days of Anime: 8 Reasons to attend an Anime Convention (Day 5)

Adobe_Post_20181213_2141021.jpg

I attended my first anime convention back in 2007 with my younger cousin and Drey.   Since then I’ve attended, two cons per year for the past 11 years up until last year when the number increased quite rapidly in our pursuit to build SDE. Over the years, I watched the convention circuit change in many ways and for those of you who are apprehensive about attending your first con (for whatever reason).

Here is why I think you should attend your first anime convention.

12 Days of Anime: Netflix’s Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters

Last year I saw Netflix put up yet another original anime in my anime suggestions. I love a good Godzilla movie so when I saw this I had to watch it and see how humans will survive this Godzilla. This is part 1 of the series and it was a great movie. It was a new way I saw the world when Godzilla arrives. The art style is very beautiful and to see Godzilla come to life it’s amazing how everything looks.

Spoilers ahead!

12 Days of Anime: Series I’m Looking Forward To Watching

As much as I love to sit and watch anime I never have enough time to sit and wrap myself in the world. I have to set time aside to start a series because of how busy life has been the last couple of months. The last anime I watched this year wasn’t even new, I rewatched some episodes of Inuyasha because I didn’t want to start a series and don’t have time to finish it.

I got my anime fix by watching shows I’ve seen already and I need to break out of this habit and finish some new series I’ve been wanting to watch for some time.  I’ll be doing better starting next year setting time aside to watch these anime shows because it’s something I’ve been trying to do for a while and it’s eating at me that I’m not relaxing and watching anime like I used to.

12 Days of Anime: Cats and Anime

Day 2 of 12 Days of Anime and I thought i’d get a little personal and introduce my babies. Cats are one of my favorite things in life and nothing can keep me away from annoying one of mine. The first anime cat I saw was in Sailor Moon way before I even had a pet. I believe Luna was the first one I saw that always made me want a black cat. Anime with cats in them are on my absolute must watch list.

12 Days of Anime: For the Love of Bulbasaur

To start off my contribution to 12 Days of Anime, I wanted to write about how I became a big fan of Bulbasaur. It’s an unusual story that led to a slight obsession over this Pokemon but I’m pretty sure someone out there is my kindred spirit on this one. Bulbasaur and their evolution’s are one of the best things I got from Pokemon. Oh! and Ash telling me to never give up but our focus is on this cutie. Continue reading

Anime NYC 2018: Masquerade Ultra Deluxe

Anime NYC Logo

Isn’t the Masquerade everyone’s favorite part of an Anime Convention? It’s where cosplayer’s get to showcase what they poured their hard work and dedication into. Whether be through sewing, knitting, molding and other forms of crafting, I am excited to see it. I also love to see the skits prepared for these events, they are usually- always the funniest way to see some of our favorite characters portrayed.

This year the contestants did not disappoint.
